Chrome Web Store limited use disclosure

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • Data collected by the PlayLog extension is used solely to provide its core functionality — screen recording, event capture, and bug report generation. It is never used for any unrelated purpose.
  • User data is not used for personalized, re-targeted, or interest-based advertising.
  • User data is not transferred to third parties except as described in the "Data transfers" section below.
  • PlayLog employees do not read or access user session data except with explicit user consent (for example, if you contact support and share a session link), for security investigation, to comply with applicable law, or in aggregated and anonymized form for internal analytics.

What we collect

When a session is recorded using PlayLog, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Website content — screen recordings of the browser tab or desktop, browser console logs and JavaScript errors, and network request and response details (URLs, HTTP methods, status codes, headers, and timing).
  • User activity — mouse clicks, scroll position, input field changes, and page navigation events that occurred during the recording session.
  • Web history — the sequence of URLs visited within the recorded tab during an active recording session.
  • Authentication information — the PlayLog session cookie is read solely to detect whether you are signed in or out. No other cookies are read or stored.
  • Personally identifiable information — your account email address, collected when you sign up.

Chrome extension data access

PlayLog is delivered as a Chrome browser extension. To provide its functionality, the extension accesses the following browser APIs:

  • Screen and tab video — the extension captures the active browser tab or your screen during a recording session. Recording only begins when you explicitly click "Start Recording."
  • Network requests — the extension observes network requests made during an active recording session, including request and response headers. This data is used solely to populate the network log in your bug report. Headers may include authentication tokens; captured header data is stored only as part of the session replay associated with your account.
  • Authentication cookies — the extension monitors browser cookie changes solely to detect when you sign in or out of PlayLog. It does not read, store, or transmit the contents of any cookies other than those used for PlayLog authentication.
  • Optional: access on all websites — the extension may ask for permission to observe network activity on all websites. This permission is optional, granted per domain at your explicit request, and used only during active recording sessions to capture network events on the recorded page. You can revoke this permission at any time from Chrome settings or from the PlayLog extension settings page.
  • Local browser storage — the extension stores your recording preferences and temporary recording state in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless it is part of a completed recording.

How we use your data

Session data is used solely to provide the PlayLog service — storing recordings, generating shareable links, and displaying session replays to authorized team members. We do not use session data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to delivering and improving the bug reporting service.

Data security

All data transmitted between the PlayLog extension and our servers is sent over HTTPS. Session recordings and event data are stored using industry-standard encryption at rest. We apply reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the personal data we hold.

Data retention

Session recordings are stored for the duration specified by your plan: 3 days on the Free plan, 60 days on Pro, and 90 days on Team. After this period, recordings are automatically and permanently deleted. Account data is retained until you delete your account.

Data transfers

We do not sell your personal data or session recordings. We do not transfer user data to third parties except in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers — PlayLog uses Stripe for payment processing. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and is not stored on our servers. Session recordings are stored on our own infrastructure.
  • Legal compliance — we may disclose data if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
  • Security — we may disclose data when necessary to investigate, prevent, or address fraud, abuse, or security vulnerabilities.
  • Business transactions — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users before data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

We never use or transfer user data for personalized advertising, re-targeted advertising, or interest-based advertising.

Your rights

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from your account settings. You can also request deletion of specific sessions at any time. To revoke extension permissions, visit chrome://extensions and manage PlayLog permissions there, or use the Settings page inside the extension.
